Analytics Companies: Please update to include Bing

Update: As of 3:00 PM, a mere 5 or 6 hours after I posted this, Omniture and Webtrends have contacted me to say that they do now properly list Bing as a search engine. That’s pretty awesome turnaround on their parts. Still waiting on Google Analytics. No idea about Hitslink, I don’t have an account.

Just a quick note to anybody who runs a web analytics program. Update your code to include Bing as a search engine.

So far I’ve checked Google analytics and Omniture, and neither one of them is correctly counting Bing visitors as search engines or carrying over the search query.

A lot of us SEO / Marketing types are curious to see day 1 impact of Bing on our sites and if it increases or drops over time, so the faster you get it working right the better.

So quit reading this and go update. Thanks!
